This is RiverPointe Farms Donimo, aka "Denny"

We had a number of Gypsy Vanner horses at this point, but we had paused acquisitions for some time.  We wanted to add dun genes to our Gypsy Vanner herd.  We had owned several Quarter Horses that were Grulla in the past (I see it more Grullo in Quarter Horse circles and more Grulla in Gypsy Horse circles, but "potato, potato"), and we missed having the pretty stripes in our pastures (Pete, our mini mule has a full Jerusalem cross, but he's part donkey, and he's gelded, so he doesn't really count).

Additionally, Jen's parents had owned a Grulla horse named Denny when she was a little girl.  They loved that gentle riding horse, and we had a sentimental reason to nickname this new addition "Denny" while continuing our registered name pattern of naming our horses after songs by a specific band (yes, his registered name is Donimo and it is spelled correctly just like the song name).

We stumbled on the posting for a 10-day old Grulla Blagdon colt.  This was going to be the beginning of a very good relationship between Horsefeathers Farm and RiverPointe Farms.  We have had a lot of dealings with RiverPointe Farms in the intervening years and we highly value this relationship.  Victoria always seems to have something that we are looking for right when we are looking for it.  I've joked that we should rename our farm RiverPointe Farms 2.0.

Inquiry made, deal made, farm visit, and when we visited the little guy, we also fell in love with his super patient mother (more on her later) that hovered near her colt during that visit.

He was just plain beautiful!  He looked like a little deer fawn with his body shape and dark, large eyes.

Denny has grown up on our farm.  He's approaching two years old now, and he's showing that he's going to be quite the manly, stud-ly horse when his girth catches up to where his mind is over the next few years.  He's currently offsite getting some finishing training with Classic Stables here in Tennessee.  It's only been a few weeks, but we miss him daily.
